Description
Clinical Benefits
- May assist in strengthening and regenerating connective tissue: Collagenics provides therapeutic doses of nutrients specific for supporting the repair of connective tissue.3 Horsetail is a silica containing plant which may assist in strengthening connective tissue by stabilising collagen. Silica has been shown to strongly bind to connective tissue structures including glycosaminoglycans, polysaccharides and mucopolysaccharides.4 Manganese plays a role in collagen formation by activating prolidase, an enzyme that provides the amino acid proline for collagen formation.5 Vitamin C and lysine also provides nutritional support for connective tissue strength and repair.3
- Healthy formation of skin, bone, joints and cartilage: Vitamin C, D, boron and manganese assist the structural integrity of bone, skin and cartilage.6 Manganese is the preferred cofactor of enzymes called glycosyltransferases, which are required for the synthesis of proteoglycans that are needed for the formation of healthy cartilage and bone.7 Boron enhances collagenase activity in fibroblasts to modulate the turnover of extracellular matrix in bone.6
